Since becoming substantively independent from X, I have started assigning responsibilities to my child. First, I had them join Google Calendar to manage their schedule. Second, I use Messenger as a to-do list tool to keep things organized. So far, it’s working well. My child is the primary reason why I chose practical independence over official independence.
Until today. I asked my kid and X to go buy In-N-Out. They came back, but… my French fries were nowhere to be found.
For the past seven years, dealing with one real child and another ‘grown-up kid’ has left me completely exhausted, both physically and mentally. I was always the one checking, ordering, and worrying about every detail.
From now on, things change. It is time for my kid to step up, be independent, double-check orders, and finally take responsibility for the things they do.🥤
